So I have started to try and make a fww bags and its going well 🙂 Although there is a lot of things to think about like top stitching, handle lengths and extra finishings to make it look like a proper bag. I will be doing a tutorial shortly (when I have it down to a fine art) A bag is not easily made so if it doesn’t have a million piecea to sew together then its not a proper bag! Trust me. Here are some of the pictures from a recent make. Along with a cat shaped problem blocking the way to my machine! Love me some more he meows! -__- lol

It’s such hard work trying to post everything that goes on in my life, creatively and generally! I entering the Designer Toy Awards 2013 this year as I entered last year with one of my plushies getting further than I thought. So maybe this year I have a better chance! I only have until the 15th May which is very soon and I am not completely prepared yet. I will only be entering the Best Plush category so i can focus on the quality of my textile toy work. So far I have two candidates lined up.
I took my nephew to Chester Zoo for the first time in his life which was awesome. A lovely sunny day and all the animals came out so I could photograph them. There were so many baby animals this time of year which reminded me that Dylan is getting so big now!
I am also off to Madrid this weekend for a well deserved break with the girls. We have an action packed schedule in place courtesy of my extremely organised friends lol. I am sure I will be writing a post with pictures when I get back. So excited! I get inspired when I travel to different countries and take in all their culture. I am also a ‘zooaholic’ so will be going to Madrid zoo as well for yet more photographs. And they have pandas! Yay….
Madrid was so awesome and very hot! My friend was burnt to a crisp at one point. Having a nice break with the girls was just what I needed. Here are a few highlights from the trip:
So, I have been watching a series called ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’ which is a competition for all non professional sewers to compete against each other in sewing challenges.
I was rooting for a young girl named Lauren to win (not that I am biased but it’s an awesome name lol) I feel as though young sewers dont get enough recognition these days as sewing is generally seen as old fashioned and ‘spinstery’ (just made that word up, love it)
Here is a link to their blog:
I do not want to tell you who won for people who have not watched them yet.
Well, I have been so busy in the past few months that I haven’t been able to update my blog for a while. Apologies to all those followers out there!
- Moved house (with two aquariums is beyond stressful!) Loving the new house with my very own studio as well.
- Started a new job at a Solicitors, so much to learn.
- Packed my bags for a trip to Africa next month to meet the boyfriends family! So very excited!
I have been working on the biggest canvas I’ve ever painted on. It’s going to be immense ‘Project Fish’ is well under way. See the work in progress tab for step by step images with diary entries.
I am currently preparing for a craft fair in Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight. From making labels to more products and new business cards I am starting to get excited….
It’s not until 23rd September this month but I want everything done early for more time to look at the finer details.
Most of the money I make will be going towards my trip to Africa in January to go and visit my boyfriend’s family. Will be really awesome to experience his country. (I am going to stand out like a sore thumb haha)
Where the magic happens….. this is my workstation right now.
(A bit smaller than I would like but hopefully gain a bigger space when I move house.)
